On the evening of March 24, the 4th Futian Beijing Opera Art Festival opened at Shenzhen Grand Theater in Luohu District. Invited by a friend, Megan Hutchinson from the U.S. went to see the rare performance.

The opening performance of the art festival, which featured renowned revoluntionary Beijing opera pieces, was led by renowned performers Yu Kuizhi and Li Shengsu.

The performance features a series of traditional Beijing operas and historical-adapted operas reflecting the red history, including “Farewell to My Concubine(霸王別姬),”“Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy (智取威虎山),”“Shajiabang (沙家浜)”and “The Red Lantern(紅燈記).”
Although it was her first time to watch the Beijing opera, Megan was deeply impressed by the performance and the charm of traditional Chinese art.
